40. Academic Council:

40.1. Develops and approves the Institute research plan in compliance with the plans of scientific organizations in the Agency jurisdiction for carrying out fundamental and exploratory research, that are annually elaborated and approved by the Agency and the Russian Academy of Sciences according to the procedure established, as part of long-term program for fundamental research in the Russian Federation.

40.2. Discusses and approves the Institute structure upon the Director recommendation.

40.3. Discusses the results of the Institute research work and approves the most important results.

40.4. Discusses topic issues of science development, hears scientific reports.

40.5. Nominates research works, inventions and other achievements for personalized medals and prizes; nominates the Institute research workers for honorary titles.

40.6. Considers issues of nomination for academic ranks according to the procedure established.

40.7. Proposes candidates for RAS Members.

40.8. Discusses and approves candidates for Deputy Director and Deputy Academic Secretary proposed by the Institute Director.

40.9. Proposes candidates for the Institute Director position.

40.10. Elects Editors-in-Chief for editions established by the Institute and approves editorial boards.

40.11. Manages the work of selection committees during competitive selection for positions of research workers and Heads of the Institute structural units.

40.12. Approves the charter commission for preparation of the Charter preliminary examination.

40.13. Deals with other issues assigned to its competence according to the Russian Federation Law, the Charter and the Academic Council regulations.
