July, 2-6 2012, Irkutsk First Announcement The XVIII International Symposium "Atmospheric and Ocean Optics. Atmospheric Physics" will be held at V.E. Zuev Institute of Atmospheric Optics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS),city Irkutsk, July 2 - 6, 2012. The Symposium is a traditional meeting of atmospheric and ocean optics and atmospheric physics community, which has a long history as a successor of the symposiums on Laser Propagation in Atmosphere and Laser Remote Sensing of Atmosphere beginning in the early seventies and organized by academician Vladimir Zuev. This Symposium is dated for forty-year anniversary of Institute of Atmospheric Optics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Second notification Dear Сolleagues! The Organizing committee will appreciate any information on the necessity of additional equipment and software submitted in advance. Russian and English are the Symposium working languages. Reports in Russian will be simultaneously translated into English (if necessary). Russian is recommended to illustrate material for oral reports and posters. |

Symposium material publication The reports will have been published by the Symposium opening. An international ISBN number will be assigned to the Symposium collected papers. Additionally, the reports selected by the Program Committee will be recommended for publication in a subject issue of the Atmospheric and Ocean Optics journal. Arrangement fee The arrangement fee for RF and CIS participants is 3000 rubles, for post-graduate students and students - 1500 rubles, and it is to be paid prior to June 25, 2012. A full arrangement fee includes participation in sessions, coffee-breaks, buffet table, bus tour of Irkutsk, Handouts, Conference materials. One can pay the arrangement fee through a bank (a bank transfer into the IAO SB RAS account): a receipt pattern can be downloaded at Auxiliary Info (<http://symp.iao.ru/ru/aoo/18/auxinfo>). Irkutsk is a major economic, research and cultural center of Eastern Siberia, founded in 1661, with the population of about 600.000. It harbors 6 universities, 12 RAS SB institutes, theaters, museums, art galleries. Lake Baikal lies in a deep tectonic depression in the Asia center, 456 m above sea level, and is surrounded by mountain ridges. Baikal is the deepest continental reservoir on the Earth, with the 730 m mean depth, 1620 m maximal depth, 1/5 of the fresh water world reserves, with an abundant and diverse flora and fauna. Early July in Irkutsk is sunny and warm, the air temperature being 20°, the Baikal water temperature being 10°.

Note that the hotels have a limited number of rooms, therefore, the Organizing Committee appeals to the Symposium participants for arranging hotel reservations as soon as possible informing of the accommodation necessity in advance.
The Organizing Committee has a possibility to support (on a co-financing basis) those young scientists, the Symposium participants, who, first of all, have submitted oral reports. This support concerns exempting from arrangement fee and refunding the travel expenses and accommodation. A request for such a support can be sent to the Organizing Committee in a scan-copy by e-mail or fax. One can find a request pattern in Auxiliary Info at (<http://symp.iao.ru/ru/aoo/18/auxinfo>).
